SBAC has summarised the key points of the Budget 2008 which are of interest to the Aerospace and Defence Industry.
Some of the topics that will be of interest to members are:
- Defence - spending over the next budget to be £2bn on frontline troops, with £900m on Defence Equipment.
- Aviation - Air Passenger Duty to be replaced with Per Plane Duty on 01 November 09, and will then be increased by 10 per cent in its second full year of operation.
- Home Security - spending to increase to over £3.5bn by 2010-11.
- Skills - Government recognises that skills of UK workers must be enhanced, and has announced a series of measures it will be introducing over the next years.
- Climate Change - 5 year carbon budgets are to be introduced, and will be started in 2009.
