09/07/2008 17:57:43

Farnborough, UK, July 9, 2008 - British Formula One ace, Lewis Hamilton, will be making his first ever appearance at Farnborough International Airshow on Monday 14 July 2008.

Lewis Hamilton, who drives for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team based in Woking, just 20 minutes from Farnborough, has agreed to drop in on his near neighbours at the Airshow and take part in the opening day celebrations for the event, fresh from winning the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, in what will be his only appearance this year at any British Airshow.

As the Bombardier Learjet Brand Ambassador, Lewis Hamilton will be at Farnborough to promote Bombardier's celebration of 2008 as the Year of Learjet – commemorating 45 years since the first flight of a Learjet aircraft. This year also marks the launch of a brand new aircraft: the Learjet 85 business jet.

Speaking about Lewis Hamilton's appearance at Farnborough International Airshow,
Steven Ridolfi, President, Bombardier Business Aircraft, commented:

“Bombardier is delighted to be celebrating the Year of Learjet at the Farnborough International Airshow, with this very special appearance by Lewis Hamilton. As the Learjet Brand Ambassador, he embodies all of the qualities associated with the Learjet brand: speed; agility and performance.”

Kathryn Bellamy, Farnborough International Limited's Head of Communications, added:

“Lewis Hamilton is a great ambassador for business aviation and for Britain. We are in the privileged position of having a world-class British sports star on our doorstep, and we are delighted that Lewis is able to join us for what should be a very special opening day of the 2008 Farnborough International Airshow.”
