A|D|S Business Ethics Conference

25/02/2010 to 25/02/2010

Date: Thursday 25 February 2010

Venue: DLA Piper, 3 Noble Street, London, EC2V 7EE

The A|D|S Business Ethics Conference is designed for businesses of all sizes, especially SMEs, exporters and in supply chains.

The purpose is to provide up to date and relevant information on what companies and their employees need to do to be compliant with the Bribery Bill which is presently going through Parliament and likely to become law this year.

This is a must attend event for directors, those who manage advisers and agents and, for senior employees and executives, to gain further practical insight how to address both the compliance and business challenges of the Bribery Bill; and to hear first hand why a company's risk mitigation, business processes, D&O and legal cover must be up to speed.

The SFO and US authorities are very active in their prosecution of overseas corruption. Amongst others:

  • 19th January, the FBI charged and detained 22 executives in relation to bribery following a “sting” operation in conjunction with City of London Police at a weapons exhibition in the . These included five Britons.
  • December 2009 the UK bridge manufacturer, Mabey & Johnson paid a total of £6.6m having been found guilty; the former managing director has recently been charged.

The Bribery Bill incorporates new offences including a corporate offence. The only defence a company will have in the event of a bribery allegation is to show evidence of working adequate procedures to prevent bribery.

There is little time left for those companies not up to date with these developments to properly address this compliance, at a time when defence and security related companies are in the enforcement spotlight.

What benefits will you take away?
