Bettina Knauer

I joined SBAC after studying international management, then working in publishing and exhibition industries in Germany and then at Delcam plc (a member company of SBAC). My role at SBAC combines working with the British Airports Group (BAG) and working on the SBAC's own knowledge and information management.

For BAG, I facilitate the BAG Board and the Airports Consultancy Group and travel to industry events and exhibitions to maintain contact with existing members and recruit potential new members.

My knowledge and information management work involves helping staff and members with all SBAC's e-services (website content management system, document management system, online communities, membership relationship management system). This role includes training and supporting staff as well as helping member companies and SBAC communities (boards and committees) with online services.

What I really enjoy about my job is the variety it offers. Working at SBAC gives me the opportunity to work in more than one role at a time and learn different skills. My job extends from working on a very specific project, like building a new section of the website, to daily new challenges in supporting other members of our team at SBAC and also liaising with a diverse range of people from industry with our members, non-members and stakeholders.

For example, since I joined SBAC in January 2005, I have worked as a market researcher on the re-launch of the Aerospace Marketing Information Centre, on the new SBAC website and on the implementation of SBAC's new membership relationship management system and other IT platforms.
