enterprise excellence

Within AeIGT implementation the enterprise excellence board is focussed on driving the competitiveness and productivity across SBAC members, with a special focus on securing deliverables from SC21.

Through enterprise excellence SBAC is challenging its' members to improve competitiveness within the firm and most importantly, across supply chains. We are also challenging Government to make better use of the money, mostly available regionally, that supports aerospace in business improvement. We offer members the opportunity to participate in supply chains relationship initiatives through SC21, to make a difference to the bottom line of their own businesses and to influence how aerospace supply chains develop.

There is also a need to address how to deliver aspects of DIS implementation with MoD, as well as meeting challenges for civil aerospace in the UK.

SBAC will continue to develop technical standards for common aerospace parts which can be bought through ASD STAN, ILI and Technical Indexes. There are opportunities for members to become involved in the development of these.

SBAC also operates on behalf of industry the Aerospace Sector Certification Scheme, which oversees the operation of the AS/EN 9100 series of standards within the UK.

SBAC provides a good practice library which you can access as a registered user.

21st century supply chains (SC21)

Achieving supply chain improvement is critical to the continued competitiveness of the UK aerospace and defence industry. This key programme is overseen by SBAC's Enterprise Excellence Board and continues the work of the Aerospace Innovation and Growth Team

SC21 aims to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace and defence industry. With international competition increasing, the participation of companies of all sizes throughout the UK supply chain is crucial to delivering real results from this modernisation programme.

technical standards

The preparation of Standards in the AS, AGS and ESC series is part of a continuous program of standardisation managed by the Technical Standards Committee of the Society.

SBAC Standards are published as part of a series of SBAC Aerospace Industry Standards and, where appropriate, additional manufacturing and inspection requirements are issued as Reference Sheets (RS) or Technical Specifications (TS).

quality systems & accreditation

The nature of today's aerospace industry demands that platforms, products and components are produced to the very highest levels of operational effectiveness, quality and reliability - all at competitive cost.

The expectation of the customer community is such that they not only expect the products to be designed and manufactured at a cost affordable to the end consumer, but also that they are delivered on time and to ever increasing levels of quality and reliability performance.
