Figure 22 UK SME aerospace sales 1997 - 2007
- Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) saw their total sales decline in 2007 by 37.24 per cent to £261m.
- SME sales to the defence sector remained broadly stable in real terms at £135m whereas civil sales declined markedly, by 54.87 per cent, to £126m.

- In 2007 civil sales represented 48 per cent, or £126m, of SME business. Defence sales were £135m.
- Exports represented only 38 per cent of SME sales, compared to a 64 per cent UK aerospace average.

- 3.15 per cent of SME sales valued at £8.2m, were sold to the UK government.
- 59 per cent of sales by SMEs were within the UK.
