SBAC Security and Resilience Activity

The SBAC's security and resilience programme supports industry's crucial role in delivering security capabilities across the world. SBAC has established a Security & Resilience Network to develop its member companies' contribution to domestic and international security and resilience. The "SRN" is made up of 100 individuals from 40 member companies possessing active security programmes in the UK or overseas. Our security team supports the SRN by providing services (policy, events, and other activities) and promoting their role in the delivery of key stakeholders' responsibilities. The programme is guided by three imperatives:

. To Support Government and the Security Industry through RISC

. To Deliver High Quality Policy Advice

. To Deliver High Quality Member Services

SBAC Security Policy Perspectives

In February 2009 the SBAC's security and resilience programme published five counter terrorism "policy perspective" papers on the private sector's role in UK National Security. These aim to widen the debate on the key role that the security supply industry has to play in protecting the UK and its people against terrorism and other threats.

The five papers cover:

  1. Critical National Infrastructure protection;
  2. Counter-terrorism technology liability protection;
  3. The private sector's role in counter-terrorism;
  4. A central single Government security procurement agency; and
  5. Supporting the Government in counter-terrorism through RISC.

"RISC"

SBAC and its member companies with an interest in the security market participate in "RISC" which is an abbreviation for the "UK Security and Resilience Industry Suppliers Community". RISC is an alliance of suppliers, trade associations and think tanks with links to academia that provides a single industry voice and channel of communication for Government on strategic issues affecting national security and resilience. RISC is fostering unprecedented Industry-Government partnership and dialogue to counter international and domestic terrorism.
