aerospace innovation networks
An Aerospace Innovation Network (AIN) is a jointly funded research network involving UK central and regional Government, industry partners, and selected universities and research establishments. The networks are led by industry, with participation open to all UK aerospace companies for work to be undertaken in the UK.
AINs focus on a specific research theme, identified as part of the National Aerospace Technology Strategy, over a rolling 5-year period. It is unlikely that an AIN will occupy a single physical centre, but will instead be a nominated set of networked research institutions with distributed research facilities.
Twelve AINs are currently being developed:
- Advanced Electrical Power Systems
- Advanced Aerospace Materials and Structures
- Aerodynamics
- DETAIN
- Electromagnetic Systems Engineering
- Environmental Technology
- Health Management and Prognostics
- High Temperature Materials
- Interactive Network Systems
- Sensor Technologies
- Synthetic Environments and Systems Simulation
- Systems Engineering
- Through Life Support
Contact the Innovation Manager if you would like further information, including how to participate in an AIN.
