Following consultation with the Scottish aerospace industry and key stakeholders, SBAC established an operation in 2005 to support sector competitiveness and provide a targeted programme of services for members in Scotland. Scotland has been at the heart of the aerospace industry since its very beginnings and is currently attracting major international investments on the basis of its skilled workforce, global links, strong and diverse local supplier base and excellent research teams. |

The Scottish Aerospace Strategy, launched in March 2003 by Scottish Enterprise, aims to create or safeguard approximately 4,500 jobs over three years. The aerospace and defence industries in Scotland employee more than 30,000 people in around 140 local companies. It is a key part of the UK industry with a mix of both civil and defence activities undertaken by prime contractors and SMEs. SBAC Scotland will work with the industry base, the Centre of Excellence, Scottish Enterprise and other stakeholders to develop a range of services and programmes geared to business development, industrial transformation and raising the visibility of Scottish aerospace capability on a global scale.
