Avionics 2008
6th Annual Avionics Exhibition & Conference
Air travel continues to grow, placing greater strain on air traffic services and causing delays at airports. Major initiatives have been launched to address this trend. With a goal of establishing a unified approach to air traffic management (ATM), Eurocontrol's Single European Sky ATM Research Programme (SESAR) is about to enter its development and validation phase. And the FAA's Joint Planning and Development Office, in the U.S., is advancing its Next Generation (NextGen) air traffic system, incorporating new technologies such as automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B), continuous descent approaches, and required navigation and communication performance (RNP and RCP).
How will aircraft cockpits be equipped to operate in this new airspace? What new procedures and training will be required? How will military aircraft fit in?
These issues and others surrounding leading edge technologies in commercial and military cockpits will be discussed at the 6th Annual Avionics Expo Conference and Exhibition. Technologies such as synthetic and enhanced vision systems, electronic flight bags, surface movement monitoring, even software that helps operators achieve maximum value from their avionics.
