I joined SBAC in May 2001, to work as the data analyst in the policy environment. Over the next two years I spent most of my time writing research and analysis concerning the impact of 9/11 on the UK aerospace industry. This analysis then fed into the Aerospace Innovation Growth Team (AeIGT), which was published in June 2003. |

In addition, during this time I was responsible for the SBAC's UK aerospace facts and figures publications. Later, my role transferred to the communications and market development teams, where I was able to continue researching and supporting the communications effort, undertaking research and data gathering for SBAC publications and for evidence submitted to various Parliamentary committee reviews. At the same time I ran the market information portal with a small team of researchers. In August 2006, I was offered the chance to move to the 21st Century Supply Chains (SC21) and Enterprise Excellence project team. SC21 is a change management programme for the UK aerospace and defence supply chain, launched in July 2006. This ambitious programme has seven core components aiming to fundamentally transform the UK supply chain. The project office was set up and staffed by two secondees from industry. In 2007 we are focusing on implementing the initial implementation work streams of accreditation, performance and development and relationships. |

This year, Delivering Innovative Supply Chains is the theme of the SBAC annual conference. The SC21 project team is putting together a high level conference for over 250 delegates in Manchester. Working at SBAC allows you move across projects and gain experience in a wide range of disciplines, it really stretches you. My role at SBAC brings me into contact with all kinds of industry professionals who help me to deliver my part in the UK's aerospace agenda. |
